Grand Blue Mountains Tour
is the one of the favourites. It is an exhilarating tour starting from Penrith up the Great Western Highway through the glorious towns of the Blue Mountains towards Mount Victoria and returning back via Bells Line Road and historical Richmond.
Starting from Penrith Station we cross Nepean River over Victoria Bridge and ride up through Glenbrook, Blaxland, Warrimoo and enter Springwood the second largest town in the Blue Mountains. In the centre of Springwood we can see the beautiful Presbyterian Church and other historical buildings. The town is colourful and vibrant.
We continue our journey passing Faulconbridge, Hazelbrook, Lawson and ride into Wentworth Falls the one of the most beautiful towns within the Blue Mountains. Here we visit Princes Rock Lookout with an iconic view of the three-tiered waterfall as well as stunning Jamison Valley. Then we do a circuit to tranquil Wentworth Falls Lake the host of many water birds.
Then we come to Leura which boasts many gorgeous gardens. We ride through the centre of the town and then visit Everglades Gardens if you wish. Next we ride along the impressive Cliff Line toward the spectacular Three Sisters at Echo Point in Katoomba.
Through the centre of Katoomba we return on the highway and go on to Medlow Bath. Now we stop at famous Hydro Majestic Hotel being recently renovated. Here we can enjoy stunning views of the Megalong Valley below as well as historical architecture.
Then we enter glorious Blackheath especially picturesque in spring when abundance of Rhododendron trees are in blossom. Stopping at Govetts Leap Lookout we get impressed by the views of the Grose Valley below as well as the Bridal Veil Falls, the highest falls in the Blue Mountains of sheer 180 metres.
We continue towards Mount Victoria and take a left turn onto Darling Causeway. The road here is indeed exhilarating and views around are virgin and unspoiled. Then we take the famous Bells Line road.
We briefly stop at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden at Mount Tomah. The garden is absolutely fantastic and is worth some extra time to explore around. Next stop is Bilpin. Here we enjoy delicious apple pie having a bit of a rest under the old trees.
Coming down we pass Kurrajong and enter Richmond taking ride through the historical centre. Some buildings had been built in late 1800’s and still serve to the community. The atmosphere is unique and apart from the historical churches, post office building and courthouse, there are a number of Victorian mansions still in their full glory.
Heading towards Penrith we take Castlereagh Road. The riding here is smooth and relaxing. The view of manor houses, orchards, fields, lakes makes you contented and positive about life. Time permitting we would visit Sydney International Regatta Centre, the host to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
